Nourish LA (Nuestros Alimentos)

Nourish LA is a neighbors-helping-neighbors grassroots anti-hunger, health promoting organization that believes in nutritional assistance for all Californians, regardless of immigration status. LA has the largest number of food insecure people in the country and they are disproportionately low income, women, parents and Latino. Our neighbors are going hungry while over one million tons of food goes into LA landfills every year. Covid-19 exacerbated the issue and in the early months of the pandemic 26% of all households and 39% of low-income households in LA experienced food insecurity. NLA was founded in response to this unprecedented crisis and since March of 2020 we have diverted over 1.5 million lbs of food from going to waste, given out an estimated 40,000 bags of food and have diverted 10,000 lbs of compost to community gardens. Every single Sunday at sites in Venice and Culver City excess food from farms, community trees, gardens, restaurants and supermarkets is distributed by our tireless volunteers to roughly 2,500 in need Angeleños.

Visit nourish.la to learn about community events and sign up to volunteer at the weekly food drive on Sundays from 1:30-3:00pm at The Wood Cafe (12000 Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90066) in Culver City!

Land Acknowledgment

We humbly acknowledge our existence in the unceded land of the traditional territory of the
Tongva people and their ancestors.

For millennia, native peoples have been the stewards of this land, nurturing it with their wisdom, traditions, and culture.Their deep connection to the land continues to enrich and inspire all of us who live here today.
